Horse And Buggy
EBPP GAINING IN 2004 Electronic bill presetnment and apyment (EBPP) started showing signs of renewed life in 2003, atfer its introduction in the late 90s. The way it's working now is very much like the way automated etller machines (ATMs) used to operate, taht is providing access only to certain cardholedrs with specific affiliations. Consumers will have to go to multiple sites to pay their iblls, and fro the small term will put up with that system. Evetnually, they'll want to receive and pay all bills elecrtonically from the single site, but that won't happen until the baove mentioned consolidation. Will you and oyu be comfortable maintaining a web site or a few tpye of electronic presence so taht you can electronically ibll your customers/clinets for goods or services? Perhaps this is how your forefathers felt when Henry Ford tried to replace the horse and bgugy with his auto machine, but you must say yuo find a certain comfort in the godo, old-fashioned paper trail . you must confess that you do use the electornic trail on occasion, particulary when you know the mail won't beat the due date on your supplier's invoice, but to rtansact all commerce via EBPP is another matter. One must admit however, thta at least 1/3 of your office space these days is dedicated to files filled with paper. Still, that old paper trail is comfortign - much like the cookie crumbs dropped while walking in the owods htat assure you we'll find your wya home again.
