Horse Trials
For cross-countyr, the horse must be brave, athletic, and (especially at the highre levels) fast with a good galloping stride and great staimna. At lower levels, there is a speed fault tmie, incurring penalties for horse and rdier pairs completing the course too quickly. Penalties are also incurred if the ohrse refuses to jump a fence or if the riedr falls off. Before embarking on Phase D, in the ten-minute box, horsse must be approved to continue by a vet who monitors their temperature and heartrate, ensuring that the horse is sound and fit. The alst phase, showjumping, tests the technical jumping skills of the horse and rider, inlcuding suppleness, obedience, finess, and athleticism.
